Inflation in Uzbekistan’s economy next year will be the highest in the region

As reported by radio “Freedom” in Uzbekistan; In 2015, inflation in Uzbekistan will be the highest in Asia, the Pacific and Australia. Such a conclusion was made by the analytical center Euromonitor International is based on data from official agencies of Uzbekistan.
In 2015, inflation in Uzbekistan will reach 11.2 percent and will be the highest in Asia, the Pacific and Australia.

Located in London analytical center Euromonitor International said that next year the degree of inflation in Uzbekistan will be the highest of the countries in Asia, the Pacific and Australia. As a leading center in the world to conduct strategic research in the consumer market, Euromonitor International has estimated that inflation in Uzbekistan in 2015 will amount to 11.2 percent. This year, inflation could reach 10 percent.

Representatives Euromonitor International said in an interview with radio “Ozodlik” that these conclusions are based on statistical data obtained from official institutions of Uzbekistan.

However, these figures are very different from those announced by the Government of Uzbekistan. In particular, the official Tashkent claims that inflation this year will be only 7 percent, and in 2015 will not exceed 6.5 percent.

In addition, according to the Uzbek government, inflation in 2013 was 6.8 percent, while according to estimates Euromonitor International, inflation last year was 12.1 percent and was the highest in Asia, the Pacific and Australia.

Uzbek officials are accustomed to say that the economy is thriving and growing. In particular, December 5, in his speech at the solemn meeting on the occasion of the 22th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan’s President Islam Karimov said yes, that during the years of independence Uzbekistan’s economy has grown by 6 times, and per capita income rose almost 9 times.

Karimov stressed once again that, despite the ongoing global economic crisis, annual economic growth in Uzbekistan is 8 percent.
