Uzbekistan increases gold production by 4% in 2014 – US Geological Survey

gold Uzbekistan increased gold production by 4% to 102 tonnes against 98 tones in 2013, said the report of United States Geological Survey.

This growth has allowed Uzbekistan to move from 8th to 7th place among countries producing the precious metal. China, Russia and Australia are leaders in this industry.

The increase in production is connected with gradual involvement of new deposits.

Earlier, the management of the State Committee for Geology and Mineral Resources of Uzbekistan said that it has no plans to attract investors to the development of new deposits of gold over the next 25-30 years. However, the Committee presented several attractive areas to interested foreign investors.

There are two manufacturers Navoi and Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complexes in Uzbekistan. 63 deposits of gold were opened at the end of 2011.

The amount of gold reserves in Uzbekistan is estimated at over 2.5 thousand tons.

About Ahmed Islamov

I was born and raised in Uzbekistan and lived in that country for about two thirds of my life. I left the country about 14 years ago but sustained tight bonds with my family and friends living there. I know and communicate personally with hundreds of people including blue-, white- or pink-collar workers. I am naturally very attached to and concerned with everything that is going on there.
